The Station

Originally settled in 1856, High Peak Station is a high-country property owned by the Guild family since the early 1970s. A wide valley nestled between the Rakaia and Waimakariri Rivers 100km west of Christchurch and comprising ten thousand acres in size, the property is a large-scale pastoral farming enterprise raising sheep, cattle and deer. Forming the headwaters of the Selwyn River, the valley has private access, no through roads and a feeling of tranquility and isolation despite our relative proximity to Christchurch, the South Island’s major port of entry.

In the late 1980s, High Peak Game Estate was developed as a complementary business to the farming enterprise, turning the wild hill-country on the western side of the property into a game preserve dedicated to the pursuit of exceptional trophy hunting and wildlife experiences.

Over twenty years’ of active management has enabled us to build high-quality herds of trophy red stags and other game species while striking a balance with the natural environment and ecology of the hunting area.

To gain a visual appreciation of our place, we invite you to view the Life on High Peak section of our Gallery. We look forward to showing you around.
