There is nothing like waking up in a pristine natural environment with no distractions, no barrier between you and the bush, nothing to clutter your thoughts other than concentrating on the task ahead… such as eating a magnificent high-country breakfast before stalking that big stag.

For those seeking a truly authentic bush experience, we keep a traditional hunters’ bush hut out near the furthest reaches of the game estate. Equipped with hot water, a shower and separate guide’s quarters, it is otherwise true to the type of lodgings utilised by New Zealand’s original deer hunters. Enjoying a evening chat over a drink by the huge stone fireplace at the end of a good day’s hunting, while venison cooks on the barbecue is one of the great pleasures of hunting with High Peak.
